What We Really Mean to Say

No matter that invitations to

sunsets and tropical beaches,

slow dancing and darkened rooms

come out of our mouths as

Do you need anything

from the market?

No matter that we talk

of bills and pills,

of a new refrigerator,

what we really mean to say is

I love you, thank you, 

for our life together.
