This old desk
is filled with useless wonders.
One drawer full of locks with no keys,
combination locks with no numbers,
a keyring with keys that open nothing.
Another drawer stuffed with task lists
in a foreign language, no tasks completed,
all to be done now.
A bottom drawer full of appointment books
filled in for the next 20 years,
somewhere to be every hour.
If I give this desk away,
will it come back
to haunt me?
