In this place of scene

and be seen,

of elbow brush

and deliberate blush,

I’m an out-of-place

stranger, unable

to mingle, awkward,

distinctive, words

all a jumble, croissant

all a crumble,

sunglasses askew,

lipstick smeared,

spit on my chin, mismatched socks

to designer shoes.
