Silence

Silence is a sine wave,

a rocking chair swaying empty on the porch,

the bottom layer of a chocolate cake,

a lurker peering through the keyhole,

the wallpaper gluing the room together,

the elephant sitting between us

that sucks up our apologies

and leaves us gasping for air.
