You want to live the perfect life,
you don’t know what it is.
Aunt Mae says life is gardening,
you live it on your knees.
Your friends say it’s the girls and booze,
the cars, the dirty money.
Your dad says you should start
a firm to make you rich and happy.
It’s who you do and what you get
that makes your life worth living.
You find yourself in prison
and shafted from behind.
As long as you are on your knees,
you’d better learn to garden.
