Seamstress

Sleep sews together

memory scraps

and story snips

into a crazy quilt.

The stitches are signposts

to a secret treasure.

I return every night

to find what’s buried.

I don’t remember why I hunt

or what I’m looking for.

A familiar voice whispers

that I’ve searched before,

and dreams are not

where meaning lives.
