Resigned

Updated: Aug 15, 2024

It doesn’t take a lot of strength to hang on. It takes a lot of strength to let go.

– J.C. Watts

Each memory, regret, a stone of grief

small by itself, but piled upon my back

became a burden, overloaded

sack of unforgiveness.

I was strong, I bore it all,

so easy to hang on.

The only one I hurt was me.

I had to lay it down,

and breathe the freedom of less weight

in peaceful resignation.

response to:

and Day 14 challenge, peaceful resignation, in the Garden of Neuro Institute Poetry Circle

Thank you! It's amazing how all those little burdens add up. I love the statue - it is perfect for the poem.
