Puppets

Puppets dangling in the air,

waiting for the show to start.

They can’t move as they would like.

Something bigger guides their way.

As I watch them on the stage,

I wonder if I have more freedom,

or am I tied by rules and love

and other things that I can’t see.

As others laugh and clap,

I leave the show quite thoughtfully.
