Never Just Right

Sometimes there's too much salt in the soup.

Sometimes there's not enough salt in the hourglass. The hourglass counts down from my first breath to my last. The salt falls too quickly, more quickly than I can run.

I sprint to the beach. Sandcastles collapse in the salt water.

I look back at my first breath. I can't breathe.

I turn to salt.

I am too much salt in the soup.

I am never enough salt in the hourglass.

My time is up.

Don't ever look back.
