December nights rain falling stars.
Wind throws silver glitter snow.
We spin below, the earth
a whirligig that tilts
and sends us off to
who-knows-where.
As we twirl, the constellations
show off jewelry
we can’t grab.
We stand and stare, eyes wide,
to bottle beauty beyond reach
within our hearts, to freeze
this blink of time til
next December rolls around.
