I’m No Barbie

My Barbie never aged, she always looked the same,

with boobs that should have brought her to the ground.

Her hair was always perfect. Her waist was always small.

She never dealt with acne or with angst.

She never joined Weight Watchers.

She never plucked her eyebrows.

She never had a facelift.

She tanned without a sunblock.

She never worried Ken

would leave her for another Barbie.

She never dealt with cancer or with death.

She wrapped herself in plastic, from her car up to her mansion.

She will never lose her beauty.

She’s well-preserved, even in the ground.
