Hair and bone

Hair and bone

persists in graves,

in museums.

It’s all that’s left

when memory

fades into

fossil record.

If I could retrieve

the hair I’ve shorn,

regain the bones

compressed and crumbled,

I'd leave my mark

in fire and earth.

But no,

this body

dwindles

far too fast.

I’ll vanish

before I die.

.....my goodness....what verse........really is...apart from the sting the utter simplicity is mesmerising.
