I survive another winter,
frozen hours of white-outs,
then blinding sun.
Today an aerial traffic jam
of geese honk
promises of green.
Today the tulips
poke their heads up,
daring more snow.
Today silly ideas romp outside
in shorts, throw themselves
against my window.
It’s 28 degrees outside,
and I survive another winter.
